New York City Rescue Mission Has Legally Merged Into The Bowery Mission

In order to effectively meet the needs of our neighbors experiencing homelessness, New York City Rescue Mission (NYCRM) has finalized its legal merger into The Bowery Mission.

The two organizations have been operating under The Bowery Mission name since 2017 when they joined forces to leverage more than 300 years of service to people in crisis in our city.

New York City Rescue Mission

NYCRM was America's first rescue mission, founded in 1872 by Jerry McAuley, a notorious criminal and convert to a life of faith and service, and his wife, Maria.

Tribeca Campus

NYCRM’s 132-bed facility at 90 Lafayette St. — today called The Bowery Mission’s Tribeca Campus — serves as The Bowery Mission’s primary site for basic needs and emergency care.

Both founded in the 1870s to serve our neighbors in need in New York City, our two organizations have always shared common stories and a common mission to see lives transformed. Now operating as one under The Bowery Mission name, what won't change is our shared vision to provide critical care and share God’s love (Read Press Release).
